Getting around in Luxembourg

Luxembourg has an excellent public transport network, and most importantly: all forms of public transport are free throughout the entire country!

You can conveniently plan your trip by using the website of the Luxembourgish transport association Mobilitéitszentral.

From Luxembourg airport to the City and the Central Station

• Two bus lines (6 and 16) take you to the city center every 10 to 15 minutes. The bus stop is in front of the terminal. Lines 29 and 223 will bring you to the Luxembourg Central Train Station (travel time: approx. 25-30 minutes).
• Taxis are very expensive in Luxembourg. Plan to spend about 40.- EUR for a ride to Luxembourg Central Station (15-minute drive). The apps Webtaxi and Uber offer more affordable options. 

ATTENTION:

Summer 2024 will be marked by major works carried out in the railway line between Luxembourg City and Belval Campus.

From Novotel Luxembourg Centre Hotel to Belval Campus:

CHER 2024 will provide a shuttle bus departing from the Novotel Luxembourg Centre during the conference (September 4-6) to Campus Belval (Stop: Esch-sur-Alzette, Porte des Sciences). 

Departure time: 8 am

From Luxembourg City Center to Belval Campus:

Buses to Belval Campus leave from the nearby Luxembourg/Centre Monterey stop:

604:
Stops at Esch-sur-Alzette, Tramschapp, where you can find a connection to Belval Campus (Buses: 4, 15, 551, 650, Stop: Esch-sur-Alzette, Porte des Sciences).

605:
Direct bus to Belval Campus (Stop: Esch-sur-Alzette, Porte des Sciences).

606:
Stops at Esch-sur-Alzette, Raemerich, where you can find a connection to Belval Campus (Buses: 4, 7, 551, 650, 750, Stop: Esch-sur-Alzette, Porte des Sciences).

607 & 608:

From Luxembourg Central Station to Belval-Université

Option 1: From the Luxembourg Central Station, take the train in the direction of Bettembourg and board a rail replacement bus to continue the trip to Belval-Université (walk 10 minutes from the train station to the Maison du Savoir)—the same procedure to go back to Luxembourg City. 

Option 2: Take the train to Pétange. When in Pétange, change the train to Belval-Université You will be directly on Campus. 

From Esch-sur-Alzette to Belval Campus:

Bus 4: Departs from Esch-sur-Alzette, Auberge de Jeunesse to Esch-sur-Alzette, Porte des Sciences

Bus 15: Departs from Esch-sur-Alzette, Gare Routière to Esch-sur-Alzette, Porte des Sciences

These works on the line might delay or cancel some trains. The best way to check for any problem is via the CFL website.

Using the CFL or the Mobilitéitszentral websites/apps is a great way to support you in planning your trip.

Parking is possible in Belval Plaza or below the Maison du Savoir Building (not for free).
